Have you ever wondered how to teach children to develop a growth mindset? Have you ever struggled to explain the growth mindset to a friend or colleague? I was a research associate for Mike Csikszentmihalyi at the Quality of Life Research Center. I made this short video that explains how to talk to students to foster resilience, long-term success, and a growth mindset.
Here are some of the minute marks in the video:
0:14 | Columbia University study on parents’ use of the word “smart” |
0:35 | Carol Dweck’s study on the use of “smart” vs “hard-working” as forms of praise |
3:25 | Effort vs Intelligence |
4:07 | How to congratulate our children? |
5:35 | Focus on the process |
6:06 | The power of “again” |
6:34 | Exponential growth over time |
