I feel like there are so many times people hear negative pregnancy and birth stories. Maybe someone is past their due date or it’s a smaller body with a big belly and they constantly hear “That’s a big baby!” or “oh, you’re past your due date, or give their opinion and it can absolutely influence what someone thinks of themselves and their ability to give birth
To counter all this, today on Yoga| Birth | Babies we have a community birth story. This one is full of incredible gems and takeaways talking about big babies, confidence, epidurals, pushing, and choosing your birth team. There are so many things that our guest Stéphanie Gonzalez shares. I had the pleasure of having Steph in our PYC community quite early in her pregnancy and throughout her late pregnancy. She shared her birth story with me via email and as soon as I read it I contacted her and asked her to share your story here on the podcast.
What I love about this episode is that Steph shares her confidence. I hope this can restore confidence to other members of our community. Of course, negative comments and stories are everywhere (not just in the media, sometimes from our friends, family, and even medical professionals). If hearing these comments makes you feel less grounded in your experience, I hope you remember that you are not alone. Many have overcome these obstacles and come away with truly powerful births. I think you’re going to get this from the story of Stephanie’s birth.
In this episode, you will learn:
- Learn how prepared for his birth.
- How Steph chose his birth team.
- How Steph’s prenatal education helped during her delivery.
- How did Steph feel when it came to a c-section due to a ‘big baby’.
- Which inspired Steph to know that she could give birth to a big baby.
- The reaction of friends and family to Steph’s desire to give birth without medication and breastfeed her baby.
- One final tip/advice that Steph would like to share with new parents or parents-to-be.
